NORTH DOWNS PILLBOX RE-ENACTMENT DAY 2010

The National Trust/23rd Sussex Home Guard Pillbox Day was held this may on a particularly roasting hot day. Many more of the public attended this year, now that word had got round

Half the platoon stayed overnight in two of the pillboxes and a tented bivouac and the whole event was covered by a camera crew from British Forces News (Screened on the 5th June).

At 1pm a very exciting firepower display was given by the Home Guard. This included the use of the Boys Anti Tank Rifle, Northover Projector, Sten Mk. 2, P14's and P17's. The camouflaged sniper gave his own practical demonstration periodically.
